Dear
Colleague,
It is my privilege to present the 88th annual scientific program of the New England Roentgen Ray Society (NERRS). Originally founded in 1914 “... to study and advance the science of Roentgenology,” the NERRS is the oldest regional radiology society in America. Today, our goals remain unchanged and the NERRS continues to provide educational opportunities for radiologists throughout New England and to enhance professional relationships between our members.
I am indebted to Education Committee Co-Chairs Brian Lucey and Jorge Soto who worked diligently to develop six novel and cross-specialty Friday educational programs that look across multiple subspecialties with unifying themes and have an outstanding cast of regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized lecturers. The 2007–2008 program features meetings on Technology and Informatics, Radiology of Pain, Inflammatory and Infectious Diseases, Oncology Imaging, Congenital Disorders of Children and Adults, and the Annual Holmes Lecture — Friday Afternoon “Emergencies.” Please visit our website at www.NERRS.org to view meeting schedules and unknown cases. We are also looking forward to a new educational venue for our sessions; the 2007–2008 program will be held at the Harvard Conference Center, a spectacular new state-of-the-art conference facility at the Longwood medical campus.
This year we will again host the rotating Named Lectureship Series in which New England academic programs honor a respected researcher or educator in radiology within their own institution. This year, Alec Megibow will give the Boston University Joseph T. Ferrucci Lecture.
Two Saturday refresher courses, one on Breast Imaging co-directed by Sughra Raza, Priscilla J. Slanetz, and Robyn Birdwell, and one on Cardiac Imaging directed by Ashley Davidoff, are also planned.
The Society is indebted to the diligent stewardship of its Executive Committee and particularly Past Presidents Deb Levine, Bill Mayo-Smith, Glenn Tung, and Scott Gazelle. I want to thank Treasurer Pamela Schaefer and past Secretary Phillip Boiselle for their continued support. I welcome to the leadership circle President-Elect Phillip Boiselle, Vice President Kent Yucel, and Secretary Deb Gervais. I would also like to recognize Administrative Secretary Ginny DuLong’s outstanding service to the Society. The NERRS begins its 88th year in sound leadership and financial positions.
Please join me for another year of education and camaraderie in the New England Roentgen Ray Society. We all look forward to seeing you at the educational sessions. I thank you in advance for your participation and support.
Sincerely,
Alexander Norbash, MD
